A snow squall warning is now in effect for Goderich, Bluewater, and Southern Huron County, with significant snowfall and dangerous conditions expected from late today through Friday.
Weather experts predict heavy lake effect snow squalls developing off Lake Huron as a strong cold front moves in. Accumulations of 20 to 30 cm are forecast by Friday, with peak snowfall rates reaching 3 to 6 cm per hour. Combined with westerly wind gusts of up to 70 km/h, blowing snow will cause very poor visibility and hazardous conditions.
The most severe weather is expected overnight and into Thursday, with rapidly changing conditions likely. Drivers could face sudden shifts from clear skies to heavy snow within a few kilometers, and road closures may occur.
Authorities urge residents to consider postponing any non-essential travel until the weather improves. Stay informed and take precautions to ensure your safety.
