South Huron residents faced a heavy snowfall in the first week of December, and the community responded with teamwork and determination. Mayor George Finch praised the efforts of staff, businesses, and volunteers who worked together to clear the roads and restore safe travel as quickly as possible.
Crews put in long hours to handle the 30 to 60 centimeters of snow that blanketed the area.
Mayor Finch highlighted the preparation and partnerships in place to deal with such weather events, saying, “We have plans with our community partners and private contractors, so we’re ready for anything. Our staff, whether in water services, recreation, or administration, worked as a team to tackle the snowstorm.”
Beyond the official efforts, the Mayor noted the incredible spirit of the community.
Mayor Finch recalled 11-year-old Harrison Jeffrey, who was recognized in 2022 for clearing snow around a fire hydrant on Churchill Crescent.
The Mayor encouraged residents to keep supporting one another and commended everyone who played a role in the snow removal efforts.
