Canada’s Ag Day is February 11th, a day to celebrate agriculture and the food system across our country.
Lisa Bishop-Spencer Executive Director of the Canadian Centre for Food Integrity, a national non-profit organization dedicated to building trust in Canada’s Food System, says its a chance to offer some well-deserved gratitude.
Bishop-Spencer says they want to get Canadians involved in the celebration. An easy way to do so is through social media.
Bishop-Spencer says her organization and others like it believe giving recognition is important in our agricultural system, and Ag Day is the perfect opportunity for Canadians to celebrate our food system.
Bishop-Spencer says elevating Canadian Agriculture to the same level as other sectors like education and healthcare is very important to maintain the current system and improve it. She also notes that the Canadian food system is an economic driver in the country, by employing one in nine people and making multi-million dollar contributions to Canada’s Gross Domestic Product.
