A new poll indicates that if Mark Carney were to win the Liberal leadership race, he could wipe out the significant lead the Conservatives have held for the past year and a half. According to a Leger survey, a Carney-led Liberal Party would see a six-point boost in support, bringing them to 37 percent and putting them in a tight race with the Tories.
The poll shows the Liberals currently at 31 percent, while Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives remain strong at 40 percent, and Jagmeet Singh’s New Democrats are trailing at 14 percent. In contrast, the poll suggests that under Chrystia Freeland’s leadership, the Liberals would see a three-point dip, falling to 28 percent, while the Conservatives would hold steady at 39 percent.
