The provincial election is coming up February 27th…and myFM is helping you get to know our LOCAL CANDIDATES.
Current Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson spoke about her campaign, key issues, and what she hopes to achieve if re-elected. Thompson has represented Huron-Bruce since 2011 and believes her experience, strong relationships, and ability to deliver results set her apart.
She highlighted her work with local mayors and her success in securing over $600 million in investments since 2018. These investments have supported healthcare, long-term care, agriculture, education, and infrastructure projects, including recent funding for Highway 4 in the North end of Exeter.
Thompson sees economic stability as the most pressing issue. She is concerned about the potential impact of U.S. trade policies on Ontario’s economy, particularly threats to the dairy sector.
She stressed the need for strong leadership to protect local jobs, businesses, and industries that support families and essential services like healthcare and education.
Her main focus will be protecting local workers, families, and businesses. She plans to continue working closely with community leaders to bring in more investments and stand firm against economic threats.
Thompson aims to push for policies that strengthen Ontario’s economy and support rural communities. She was working on legislation recognizing the unique needs of rural Ontario before the election and hopes to complete it with a new mandate.
Thompson emphasized her ability to collaborate across party lines. She pointed to her success in passing two major bills in 2024 with unanimous support, showing that she can work effectively with opposition members to achieve meaningful results.
Thompson is approaching this election as she has in the past—by staying connected with communities, understanding local concerns, and working hard to serve Huron-Bruce residents.
Stay tuned as myFM features more candidates for the upcoming election.
