
Lambton County Council has approved a 5.3% increase in the property tax levy as part of the County’s 2025 budget. The budget, finalized at a council meeting this morning, includes total spending of $323.2 million, with $101.7 million coming from local property taxes.
The budget includes a $3.6 million contribution to the Affordable Housing Reserve Fund, which is an increase of $600,000 from last year. It also provides funding for a new Emergency Medical Services headquarters and an expansion of ambulance services.
Council has approved additional financial support for the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park. The County of Lambton Community Development Corporation will receive up to $900,000 in installments based on financial need. This is in addition to the County’s 2025 grant of $642,870, bringing total funding to $1,542,870.
Lambton County provides a range of public services, including emergency medical response, libraries, long-term care homes, museums, an art gallery, road maintenance, public health services, housing, and social services. The County employs about 1,300 staff across more than 40 locations.
