Now that we are officially into spring, the O-P-P and the M-N-R are warning people about bears. While bears sightings are rare in our area, it is always better to be prepared.
They say this is the time of the year where black bears are starting to come out of hibernation.
There are a number of tips people can do to protect themselves and others from potential bear encounters. They include cleaning out bird feeders and barbecues, keeping garbage inside, and having dogs on leashes.
If you do encounter a bear, the M-N-R has set up a hotline to report bear sightings.
