As myFM recently reported South Huron council approved a single ice pad as part of their grant application for upper-level funding as part of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
Councilors Barb Willard and Ted Oke voted against the single pad instead stating that the community needed two pads.
Oke says ice time is hard to come by currently which is a reason he voted against a single pad.
Oke says projected increases at the high school and minor hockey are also reasons for 2 pads.
He adds that development in South Huron could bring more people to town and he doesn’t want to see that opportunity missed if council doesn’t provide an adequate recreation facility.
