Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton says the government’s focus has been on long-term care homes since coming into office and that’s where it’ll continue to be.
That was his response following myFM’s question about how it took the Canadian Armed Forces to file a report to uncover the horrid living conditions in five long-term care facilities in the GTA late last month to come to light.
He called the findings “despicable and disgusting.”
McNaughton says the local homes provide quality care for its residents so people in the region have nothing to be concerned about, while adding an independent commission set for July will review all 624 homes.
The Ontario Ombudsman’s office also announced Monday they’ll be launching an investigation into the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Long-Term Care, to which McNaughton supports.
