Ontario premier Doug Ford recently said he liked the idea of outdoor classrooms and Ontario Green Party leader, Mike Schreiner totally backs him on the idea.
Schreiner says learning in natural settings has many psychological and physical benefits, and time spent in nature also breed an appreciation for the environment.
Earlier this summer, the province announced a hybrid model in which students will partially return to classrooms and then be expected to learn remotely online.
Schreiner says many schools notice red flags with the model, noting children will be passed around between classrooms and daycares, further exposing them to COVID-19.
He says outdoor classrooms will help solve physical distancing constraints at schools by increasing their physical footprints.
