Lambton County Archives has shared their newest project, done in collaboration with the community called ‘The Young Canuckstorian Project: Hometown Heroes’. The project is a way to celebrate some outstanding community leaders from Lambton’s past.
The project was headed up by local author and illustrator Mickey Maple, also known as Mike Collier, a recent Premier’s Award Nominee. Maple and his team have assisted young writers, names ‘Canuckstorians’ to research and write scripts to produce a total of 20 animated videos in celebration of local community leaders. Each video is two minutes long, and features an animated version of the Canuckstorian who share the local story. Community leaders like Sadie Knowles, Roy Caley and Doc Dougall are among some of those under the spotlight.
The projects have dual purpose; serving as a tool to bring light to historical societies and other institutions, as well as being a resource of the Lambton Kent District School Board. The project was supported by the Creative County Grant Program in collaboration with Lambton COunty Museums and Archives, local historical societies and Lambton Kent District School Board. The videos will be made available on the Young Canuckstorian YouTube channel and the Lambton County Archives Blog.
