The Downie Optimist Community Hall in St. Pauls has been awarded a grant through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP): Community Culture and Recreation Stream, and will see around $275,000 in renovations and upgrades.
The hall was built over 30 years ago and plays a give role in the community. In those 30 years, there are areas and components that have reached the end of their useful life, so the renovations will help with that.
Areas that are going to be renovated or upgrade include a complete renovation of the hall, kitchen, bar, and washrooms. The parking lot will also be expanded and repaved. One hope from these renovations is to make things more energy efficient, and increase accessibility.
The hope is that the renovations will be completed by early spring 2022.
