A Perth County councilor is being cut a day’s pay for telling his political colleagues that they ‘would pay in the afterlife’ if they made the COVID-19 vaccine mandatory for municipal employees.
This is the second time Perth East Councilor Daryl Herlick has breached council’s code of conduct in 14 months.
In September 2021, Herlick breached councils code of conduct by posing for a photograph with members of a anti-lock down group who were not following any COVID protocols.
A law firm was involved. They shared their findings with Herlick and based off his response, they said it was ‘clear he feels overwhelmingly justified in relying on his faith, to advocate for his position on issues, as he genuinely believes that mandatory vaccination policies are harmful to citizens’
It was originally recommenced that Herlick be docked 10 day’s pay, but that suggestion was defeated and councilors agreed to only dock 1 day.
