
During South Huron Council’s meeting on September 5th, a delegation from the Sunset Community Foundation made presentation.
This foundation, which serves a vast region encompassing Huron County, Lambton Shores, and Middlesex, plays a crucial role in supporting local community vitality. With more than 86,000 residents under its umbrella, they have donated a staggering $2.1 million to various community groups.
In 2019, the Sunset Community Foundation entered into an agreement with the Municipality of South Huron to establish and administer the South Huron Vitality Fund.
In their delegation, the Sunset Community Foundation requested further support from the South Huron Council in the form of an investment totaling $150,000 over three years, equivalent to $50,000 annually.
Council’s decision on this investment will be made at a subsequent meeting.
The foundation’s areas of interest include social services and low-income areas, family and community, health, education, diversity, as well as arts and culture.

This initiative has supported various local organizations, including the Alzheimer’s Society, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of South Huron, the Huron County Library, the Huron Waves Music Festival, the South Huron Arts Centre, and the Huron County Food Distribution Centre, among others.
In their delegation, the Sunset Community Foundation requested further support from the South Huron Council in the form of an investment totaling $150,000 over three years, equivalent to $50,000 annually. This proposed investment would undoubtedly bolster the foundation’s ability to continue its impactful work within the community.
Council’s decision on this investment will be made at a subsequent meeting.
