The COVID-19 outbreak at Stratford General Hospital has officially come to an end, according to a press release by Huron Perth Public Health.
The outbreak, which was initially declared on September 12, prompted measures to curb the spread of the virus.
With the containment efforts proving successful, the Medicine Unit has now been reopened to admissions and transfers.
While this outbreak has been declared over, Erica Jensen Manager of Patient Safety and Infection Control underscored the ongoing importance of maintaining protective measures: “While this outbreak is over, we can’t stress enough the importance of layering up your protection to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses that are circulating in Huron Perth.”
She also advised staying up-to-date with vaccines and boosters, wearing masks in crowded indoor public spaces, practicing regular hand hygiene, and staying home when feeling unwell.
