BMO (Bank of Montreal) has confirmed the pending closure of its Grand Bend branch.
In an email statement to myFM, BMO said “We continuously assess our operations – including our branch footprint – to ensure that we are able to serve our customers with the products and services they need.”
Additionally, they said that the bank is working closely with branch employees to help them find alternative opportunities within the organization.
Theresa Marie Phillips has lived in the community for decades, she is vocally opposed to the closure.
Phillips says that the move will have a notable impact on the accessibility of banking services for the local community, especially among bustling development.
Letters received by customers have indicated that the Grand Bend branch will cease operations on April 26th, 2024.
Many locals are also worried about the potential inconvenience of traveling to the nearest branch in Exeter for their banking needs, especially for elderly residents or those without reliable transportation.
