An algal bloom near the Grand Bend Yacht Club has been confirmed by the The Ministry of Environment, Conservation, and Parks (MECP) not to be blue-green algae.
While this is reassuring news, MECP is not letting down its guard. Further analysis of the algal bloom is underway to determine if any algal toxins are present. The results of this analysis will be communicated promptly to the public.
As a precautionary measure, warning signs will continue to be posted at Grand Bend South Beach. The safety of the public remains a top priority for Lambton Public Health and MECP, and further updates will be provided as soon as new information becomes available.
