Staying active is absolutely vital to long-term health and wellness, and seniors in Zurich have a new opportunity to get out, and get moving, with exercise and fall prevention classes being offered by West Huron Care Centre!
If you ask Wellness Coordinator Darlene Periera, staying active is absolutely crucial to maintaining mobility.
They’ve partnered with Good Neighbours of Bluewater, to bring fitness classes out of the local long term care home, and into the community. Every Friday morning, locals age 55 and older can get some exercise, and perhaps learn something new.
Their exercise classes include a good variety of activities for everyone, and all at absolutely no cost.
Heading into the colder months, Periera says that it’s even more important to be intentional about staying active, as people are generally more sedentary in the winter. It also helps with fall prevention in icy conditions, preventing injury through mobility.
Staying active is also a great opportunity for seniors in the community to stay connected to one another.
There’s lots of options to stay active, you can meet at Good Neighbours of Bluewater in Zurich on Fridays from 10-11, or at Maplewoods on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10-11. For more information, call West Huron Care Centre.
