Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) has declared a respiratory outbreak on the Inpatient Unit at its Seaforth Community Hospital site.
The affected unit is now closed to admissions until further notice to prevent the potential spread of the respiratory infection. HPHA is working closely with Huron Perth Public Health to manage the outbreak efficiently.
As part of the preventive measures, the presence of family and caregivers on the unit has been modified. Patients are allowed only one family caregiver/visitor per day, and they are required to adhere to strict personal protective equipment guidelines. This includes wearing a mask, eye protection, gown, and gloves to minimize the risk of transmission.
Erica Jensen, Manager Quality, Patient Safety, and Infection Control, emphasized the importance of community cooperation, urging individuals feeling unwell to refrain from visiting hospital sites.
