A notice of motion was presented to South Huron council back on December 18th, by Mayor George Finch for a very special addition to a road of concern in Exeter, it was brought back to council last week for discussion.
Since Council has identified Community Safety and Well-being as a top priority and Community Security as a key focus in our safety plan, and recognizing the role of regulatory signs in reducing risks on municipal roads, especially at crossovers, it was proposed that Council supports investigating the feasibility and cost of installing a pedestrian crossover, like a PXO – Level 2: Type C Pedestrian Crossover.
This initiative aligns with the goal of enhancing safety, promoting economic development, and ensuring accessibility for all residents in our community.
Finch started the conversation saying this matter is very important to not only himself, but the whole community.
Finch has an ideal spot in mind for where the proposed pedestrian crossover would go.
Before other members of council were asked to share their thoughts on the proposed pedestrian crossover, Finch had some parting words for council.
Councilor Aaron Neeb was the first to step up and share his thoughts on the proposal.
Staff has been asked by council to put together a report about the feasibility and cost of installing this pedestrian crossover and the report will be discussed in a later council meeting where a final decision on the matter will be made.
