The statutory holiday of Family Day is coming up on Monday, February 19th – the weekend is expected to bring scattered flurries to the region – a total of up to 7cm from Friday to Sunday.
If you’re making plans, it’s important to remember that many local businesses have given their employees a much deserved day off.
Store Hours and Closures:
Prepare for a mix of open and closed signs on Monday. While Hansen’s Independent Grocer in Exeter will be closed, Foodland in Exeter plans to operate from 9 am to 5 pm, ensuring locals can grab any last-minute essentials. In Grand Bend, Sobey’s will maintain regular hours from 7 am to 9 pm. It’s best overall to confirm specific opening hours with individual stores.
Government and Services:
Government offices, banks, libraries, and municipal services will be closed for the holiday. LCBO and Beer Store locations will also observe closures. However, essential federal services like passport offices and Canada Post will remain operational.
Healthcare Services:
Emergency departments at all four hospital sites will remain open, providing essential medical care throughout the day. While some outpatient clinics may be closed, emergency services will be available to those in need.

There’s lots of activities on tap to keep you busy
