Grand Bend’s inaugural Ribfest event sizzled its way into this week’s South Huron Council Meeting, sparking tasty discussions and saucy excitement!
A recommendation was made that South Huron Council deem the 2024 Grand Bend Ribfest as Municipally Significant for the purposes of the applicant obtaining a Special Occasion Permit.
Councillor Vaughan was this first to join the conversation asking why a special permit was needed.
Acting Clerk, Alex Wolfe explained to council why the permit was asked for.
At this point South Huron is the host, but those in charge of Ribfest are responsible for finding vendors and getting licenses.
Towards the end of Councils discussion on the topic, Deputy Mayor Jim Dietrich said there are always extra policing costs for an event such as this and asked who would be responsible for covering those costs.
CAO Rebekah Msuya-Collison explained where all the costs would come from and who would be responsible for what.
While there is no set date for Ribfest as of yet, Grand Bend and surrounding communities are excited to see the event come to life at the speedway during the summer months.
