We’re inching closer to the byelection in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex.
There are 7 candidates running in all, trying to capture the seat left vacant when former MPP Monte McNaughton stepped down in September to pursue a job in the private sector.
McNaughton has thrown his support behind Progressive Conservative Party candidate Steve Pinsonneault, a Chatham-Kent councillor for the past 17 years, who is looking to keep the riding blue.
Lucan-Biddulph Mayor and past Middlesex County Warden three times over Cathy Burghardt-Jesson is running for the Liberals. Lambton-Kent-Middlesex was a Liberal-held riding before McNaughton got in and she’s working hard to win it over again.
Kathryn Shailer is running for the NDP.
She tells us more about herself and why she’s running.
Ontario Green Party Candidate Andraena Tilgner, a frontline health care worker, says her journey from British Columbia to Ontario has been one of embracing community and advocating for change. Tilgner says the Greens’ vision of prioritizing people over profits resonated deeply with her, motivating her to step forward.
The Ontario Party candidate is Cynthia Workman, a registered psychotherapist and addictions counsellor who was born and raised in the riding.
Keith Benn is running for the New Blue Party and he tells myFM a bit more about himself.
Stephen Campbell is running for the None of the Above Party and tells us what it is.
The byelection is May 2nd.
