Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) sent out 1557 suspension notices on April 26th to elementary and high school students with incomplete immunization records. These students risk being barred from school starting May 23rd unless their records are updated by then.
Initially, there were over 5100 incomplete records, but about 70% have been updated since January when HPPH began notifying parents.
Parents receiving suspension notices should update immunization records online or by phone if their child is up to date. Contact their healthcare provider if their child is not up to date or book an appointment at a catch-up immunization clinic through HPPH’s website or phone Or obtain a valid exemption if applicable by visiting www.hpph.ca/exemption.
Visit www.hpph.ca/icon or call HPPH at 1-888-221-2133 ext. 3558 to update your childs records.
Failure to address these issues before the suspension date will result in a suspended child. The Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA) mandates immunizations for school attendance or valid exemptions to safeguard children’s health.
