The Pride Flag will once again not be flying in Bluewater this June, following discussion at council’s meeting on Tuesday, (May 21).
Councillor Winona Bailey initiated the motion and kicked off the discussion.
Councillor Scott Harris expressed support for the motion, suggesting that the Municipality show its support through social media platforms.
Councillor Bailey further noted that Bluewater participates in the Huron County Pride Decal Program, with decals displayed on the municipal building.
She will also be attending the Huron County Pride Festival on June 1 on behalf of the municipality.
This is all in stark contrast to discussions about raising the flag last year, which prompted a volume of correspondence from residents, following council’s decision not to declare June 2023 Pride Month.
Although council expressed support for Pride Month, the flag will remain out of the picture.
