On October 31, Bayfield Lions Club leaders met with officials from the Municipality of Bluewater to discuss the future of the Lions Community Building. Bluewater shared that they’d been approached by a couple of doctors interested in buying the building to open a new general practice in Bayfield. Bluewater informed the Lions ahead of last nights council meeting where the sale process would begin.
The Lions supported the idea of bringing a new healthcare service to the area but expressed concern for the current tenants, including the Food Bank and an insurance business.
Bluewater agreed to help find a new location for the Food Bank if the sale proceeds. If the sale doesn’t happen, the Lions’ lease will continue, and discussions will resume. The Lions are committed to keeping tenants and members informed as the situation develops.
