One of the many people who gathered at the cenotaph in Exeter on Sunday (Nov. 10th) for the Remembrance Day service… was 100 year old Vera Armstrong.
Vera tells myFM her time in Germany during the war was eye opening.
Vera says her time in the military definitely shaped her life and she hopes people always remember and teach their families about the sacrifices made by so many…for our freedom.
Vera has this message for all Canadians.
Vera was 19 when she joined the Air Force in 1943 and served in World War Two, as a wireless operator. That included some time spent in bombed out Germany. She then went on to serve the country again, in 1951.
Please remember to take a moment today to remember all the sacrifices that were made by hundreds of men and women in honour of our country.
