The Ausable Bayfield Maitland Valley Drinking Water Source Protection Region is searching for a new member to join their Source Protection Committee (SPC) to represent the environmental sector. Interested candidates can apply by sending a cover letter and résumé by Friday, December 13th at 4 p.m.
Applicants must have a connection to the area, either by living, owning or renting land, working, operating a business, or being employed by a municipality within the source protection region.
The Source Protection Committee’s role is to help protect local municipal drinking water sources through science-based planning under Ontario’s Clean Water Act, 2006. The committee, which consists of 12 voting members, works to manage and reduce risks to local drinking water through locally developed and approved protection plans. The committee includes representatives from municipalities, the economic sector (such as agriculture, industry, and commerce), and other public interests, including environmental groups.
