The 2024 OPP Festive RIDE program has charged 48 drivers with criminal offenses as the campaign continues in the West Region. Officers have carried out 883 RIDE checks across 13 detachments, resulting in 148 impaired driving charges and 10 warn-range suspensions.
In comparison, during the same period last year, 140 impaired driving charges and 21 warn-range suspensions were issued after 1,033 RIDE checks.
The Festive RIDE campaign is an annual initiative aimed at removing impaired drivers from Ontario roads during the holiday season. This year’s campaign runs from November 21, 2024, to January 1, 2025, with officers conducting checks around the clock.
The OPP encourages everyone to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 9-1-1, helping to keep roads safe for all.=
