Starting February 3rd, 2025, Ontario seniors aged 80 and over will benefit from a streamlined driver’s licence renewal process.
Mandatory vision and cognitive screening assessments, previously conducted at separate locations, can now be completed in a single visit to select Service Ontario centres. By Spring 2025, the service will be available at all Service Ontario locations.
Eligible seniors will receive renewal notices 90 days before their licences expire, with instructions to book an appointment online or by phone. At their appointment, they can complete required screenings and renew their licences on the spot.
Ontario renews about 200,000 senior licences annually, with the number of senior drivers expected to grow to 700,000 by 2034. Visit Service Ontario for more information.
