Get ready for an unforgettable weekend in Goderich as the annual Winterfest celebration returns from February 14th to 17th. This year’s Winterfest promises to be bigger and better than ever, offering a variety of events for all ages. Winterfest begins with a special Valentine’s Day celebration on February 14th. Local restaurants will host themed dinners and double date specials. Additionally, the 35th Annual Heartwarming Luncheon will take place, marking the official start of the festivities.
Jenna Ujiye, Tourism and Community Development Manager for the Town of Goderich says there will be plenty to do.
One of the standout events is the Taylor Swift tribute concert, Taylor’s Story, at the Knights of Columbus. This highly anticipated show, which runs from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., is already selling out quickly, so make sure to grab your tickets soon.
For those looking for something different, there’s the popular Rotary Chili Cook-Off at Knox Church, where you can taste various chili recipes and vote for your favorite. Tickets are available at the door with a donation, and there’s always a fun, festive atmosphere.
Saturday also offers the enchanting Maitland Trail Association Candlelight Walk. From 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., participants can stroll through the Maitland Woods, with a beautiful one-and-a-half-kilometer trail lit by lanterns.
On Sunday, February 16th, there will be a range of activities for families, including a hockey game and the Old Deccan’s Hockey Tournament at the Maitland Recreation Center.
Family Day, on Monday, February 17th, brings even more exciting events. The Maitland Recreation Center and YMCA will host special activities, including a free skate sponsored by the Kinsmen and a swim sponsored by the Kinettes. The community will also enjoy a bouncy castle, family crafts, a scavenger hunt, and an open house at the museum with a winter carnival.
Ujiye explains that Winterfest is important for bringing the community together and providing a much-needed boost during the long winter months.
While many Winterfest events are free or by donation, a few do require tickets, including the Taylor’s Story concert.
This year’s Winterfest promises to be a magical winter weekend filled with fun, food, and community spirit. Mark your calendars, gather your friends and family, and come out to enjoy all that Goderich has to offer from February 14th to 17th!
